Principal's Blog 2/12/19

February 12, 2019

Dear Parents,

Thank you all for attending our Student Led Conferences this week.  It was wonderful to see you and have students share and lead their learning.  I had an opportunity to listen in on many sessions and loved seeing students celebrate their progress as well as next steps for their educational.  Through the Leader in Me we believe students have an integral part of this journey.

Some Dates to Remember:

Students don't have school on Friday the 15th.

Monday, February 18th NO SCHOOL - PRESIDENTS DAY

Friday, February 22nd 5:30-8:30 Legacy Point's Annual SOCK HOP!  Please join us! Additional information is in your Thursday Folder.

February 26th is a Parent Teacher Involvement Board meeting at 4:15.  We are looking for new members to help out with one or several of our events.  Please come to see how you might help or share some fresh new ideas!  We need your involvement as many of our current members are retiring.

Leader in Me Recertification
Franklin Covey representatives came to LPE last week to provide an annual recertification check up.  Our biggest strengths were 1.  Ongoing Professional Learning for staff  2.  The safe and collaborative community we have with parent and student involvement and 3.  Our systems to align and monitor student achievement in reading.  It was a wonderful celebration for us. Next steps will include continuing to empower our students in various roles and their learning.  We are ready for it!

7 Habits Training for Parents
We currently have approximately 20 parents going through the 7 Habits training.  This is a shortened and condensed 3 night training.  The feedback from this has been sensational and we hope to continue to offer these types of options.

Thank you!
We can't thank our Parent Teacher Involvement Board enough for providing dinner for our two nights of conferences.  This is such a treat for all who are here throughout the evening.  Also, thank you to all of the parents who are helping to make the book fair such a success!  It has been stated that our parent community is going above and beyond to help provide the teacher books requested.  We can't thank you enough for your help raising money for our school!

$$$
Now that we have our rock wall, our next priority for our building will be to finalize installing share walls and projectors in the final two rooms as well as beginning to replace teacher computers.  Our staff is operating on systems that are quite antiquated and need attention.  Please help us with these two priorities.

Student Leaders
You may have noticed the student greeters in the morning.  Students sign up for this leadership position and help hold doors, provide smiles, and start the day off on a positive note by greeting fellow students.  If your son or daughter is interested, please have them grab a leadership application in Town Square.  There are also availabilities with the Flag Team and Kitchen Servers.

As always, thank you for your involvement and support.  Legacy Point is a special place because of your help.  We appreciate you!
